The works of artist Allison Rietta is strongly influenced by spirituality, nature and architecture. Primarily abstract, her work has led her to explore sacred—or mystic geometry—tapping into the magic of imagination and the sub-conscious mind. Textures, colours, and the relationship between shapes and forms is what guides her intuition most.
Born in 1969, Rietta grew up in Canada, where she studied from 1989 to 1991 at the Ontario College of Art. In 2005, she moved to Rome, Italy, then to London, England where she worked as a creative director for various design agencies. She moved back to Canada in 2010 and founded her design studio, Diagonal, which she continues to run.
Her path has led her to create Avreya (pronounced ‘ah-vray-ya’) founded in 2019 in the form of a spiritual ‘space’ dedicated to the creative practices of visual art, sound healing, and meditation. Avreya derives from the latin word aurea meaning golden, and speaks to the true inner Self—the golden essence—that is within all of us.
Allison is a certified yoga teacher from the school of Yoga Therapy Toronto, based on the respected teachings of T. Krishnamacharya. She continues her studies of sound healing therapy in the authentic Tibetan tradition using ancient Himalayan singing bowls.
She is a proud member of the International Association of Visual Artists (IAVA).
Allison is preparing for her first pop-up Exhibition in Toronto’s west end for late fall ‘21.
