Layered abstract paintings exploring geometry, resonance, and perception.

Allison Rietta is a Canadian abstract artist whose work explores geometry as a language of energy, resonance, and perception. Working primarily with layered watercolour, acrylic, oil pastel, coloured pencil, and hand-painted collage, she creates atmospheric compositions that balance structure with intuition, translating vibration, rhythm, and sensation into visual form.

Influenced by meditation, sound, architecture, and material process, Rietta’s evolving practice investigates themes of mysticism, transformation, feminine symbolism, and the emotional potential of colour and spatial rhythm. Through repetition, translucency, and layered surfaces, her paintings move between precise geometric structures and more intuitive, atmospheric fields, inviting slow looking and contemplative engagement.

Before transitioning to a full-time painting practice in 2020, Rietta spent over two decades working in branding and creative direction — an influence that continues to inform the compositional clarity and visual sensitivity within her work. She studied Environmental and Industrial Design at Ontario College of Art and later continued her studies through Turps Painting School.

Rietta’s work has been exhibited internationally across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, including presentations at Affordable Art Fair New York and San Francisco Art Fair with Spence Gallery. In 2024, she participated in the Arteles “Silence Awareness Existence” residency in Hämeenkyrö, Finland. Her work has been featured in CasaFacile Magazine and is currently featured in an artist interview and profile with Curatory Magazine.
